We are RE-STARTING Groups

Re-emphasizing groups of people working together: The purpose of Data Science Nights is to support people at Northwestern finding like-minded community around group projects. Starting from March 2022 onward we will start with this refreshed focus. We thus just just started to help our attendees and others at Northwestern to find new colleagues and begin such group projects. We can provide additional training and contacts to help ensuring a successful start of these groups..

Group structure: The specific format and focus will depend on the groups. However, based on past experiences, we strongly advise that 2-3 group members will act as co-chairs, and that group sizes are limited around ~8 people per group (or less), and that groups develop a plan over their shared vision of the next half year. Further, that the group communicates expectation toward its members. While there is no right or wrong here, some groups for instance might prefer members of mixed skill levels whereas others might prefer a more uniform skill distribution.
